Fan truth: McD’s is the place where grandmas become superheroes.
McDonald’s is the place where lifelong memories are made with abuelas. From treating us to an impromptu soft serve to letting us have dessert first - grandmas always know how to make us feel special. And now, it’s their turn.
We partnered with Award-Winning Reggaeton artist & songwriter, Jay Wheeler, to inspire fans to celebrate their abuelas by treating them to the new Grandma McFlurry. Fans were encouraged to participate in the #GrandmaMcFlurrySweepstakes TikTok sweeps, featuring Jay’s new cover of the iconic song “Piel Canela,” for a chance to win a serenata by him.
To bring the campaign to real life, we recreated "Abuela's House" and brought to life some of those cherished moments, like Danish cookie tins turned sewing kits, domino tables, photo opps and the beloved sights, sounds and smells of Abuela’s House. Our medley of guests, including influencers and brand fans, sampled the Grandma McFlurry and interacted with engagements that encouraged them to participate in the sweepstakes and visit restaurants, such as the Consejo Kiosk, and enjoyed an intimate performance with Jay Wheeler, Zhamira Zambrano and Noreh.
In efforts to merge modern technology with something as timeless as a grandmother’s advice, the kiosk provided advice from three categories (Love, Life, Surprise Me), where guests were able to take a photo and share to social media.
